I was inspired by theme of our pastor’s homily this morning: be faithful. be adventurous.
He spoke of Elon Musk’s dream of colonizing Mars and then of Columbus and other early settlers who dared to sail west despite the danger of “falling off the earth” only to find new trade routes, worlds and adventure beyond their wildest dreams. He spoke of the inherent dangers in taking a risk on dreams and the phenomenal rewards of persistance, vision and action.
Here in America we don’t often have to look far to find success stories. Stories of rags-to-riches, entreprenurial accomplishments, marriages saved, addictions battled and beaten, friendships blossomed and relationships repaired. Success comes in many forms in life and it all involves a dream or a vision, a risk made, an adventure taken, perseverance and faith in something that does not yet exist.
What comfort to know that we do not have to step out alone on these adventures.
2 Cor 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
