Yesterday, my Hubby was out of town for the day/night for a conference and the kids were all pretty much occupied. While we started out the day with a parade and me volunteering to chaperone the Middle School band, followed by lunch with my oldest girl and then slowly delivering kids to friends….I found myself alone from about 2 p.m. on. Completely. And utterly alone. I tell you it was heaven.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my family. In fact, my favorite night is when we can get all the kids home for dinner (usually Sunday night) and be together. Now that said I luuuuuuhhhhuuuuuuhhhhhvvvvv me some alone time. It helps me to be productive, like tackling projects I generally don’t have the energy for; it gives me relaxation time, I usually like quiet–not even music; and I am refreshed and seriously energized and peaceful. I guess it is the introvert in me that needs a little recharging from time to time and for this I am thankful!!
For my projects today I was able to re-organized several shelves with books, find new homes for them and wash and change everyone’s sheets (my FAVORITE), as well as write a note to a friend, put up October’s calendar, make plans to see a friend for dinner this week and mow the lawn for my Hubby so he can chill tomorrow afternoon when he gets home.
We all need to refresh and “fill the well” from time to time. It makes us all better people and in turn OUR people reap those rewards. Clearly I need to do this a little more frequently. How do YOU recharge?
