  2. I took the day off today (and so did Hubs) and our sweet little sicky who I blogged about yesterday, had a miraculous healing!!  Woot, woot!!!  Happy birthday to ME!!!  Off to school, my little cherub.  I know, totally crazy and selfish move, right?  Well, that’s how I roll around here as evidenced by the FIRST BIRTHDAY I have ever even taken the day off for (that I remember anyway….things are a little foggy sometimes….send gingko wouldya?).  Anyhooooo, as I enjoyed my morning coffee ofcoffee
  3. I spied this little loveliness on the back porch.
New plants! And new pots!! Be still my heart. Sweet Hubs. Totally rocked it!!

  5. Of course I still have Facebook to keep up with today (such fun all those birthday wishes, worth holding off purging the list for a while), several early texts and phone calls (since I’m off I can actually talk on the phone today….unless I’m in the pool or riding my bike on the beach…) and then this awesome pile of snail mail to savor later!!
Love cards. And presents. It's my love language.

  6. Yesterday at work my awesome work peeps had a chip and dip celebration followed by jello cake topped with cool whip.  Homemade crab dip and Hand chopped with love and claw inducing mango salsa by my bestie work bud!)  Delicious, it was breakfast and lunch….dips
  7. But, lest you think it’s all awesome food, no responsibilities, flowers and chocolate….I’m still a Mama and regular life still goes on.  And it’s all good!!

In honor of MY birthday, I am showing an act of mercy and doing the boy's laundry. Told you I am a selfish B....just keepin' it real!

Have a great day, y’all!!

Ch.ch.ch.changes…..

The best laid plans come to a screeching halt when the school nurse calls with a vomiting kiddo in her office.

Fortunately, Popop to the rescue with a quick pick up and chill out time on his couch until mom picks up the little pukey miss on her way to her hair appointment (on lunch break).

Dropped her off at home to rest and then checked on her after hair appointment, set her up with saltines, powerade, water bottle,  TV remotes, telephone and garbage bucket.

Back to work to relieve for lunch and see if I could tough it out, but between the horrendous weather and the very sad panda at home, I left early with my friend’s blessing, picked up biggest boy from the bus stop, was able to tend to sickey girl and then picked up the middle schoolers while dropping of the big guy for work.

Soo…..yeah, the awesome date birthday with the Hubs…..looks like we might have company.

Ah, the life of a parent, eh?  Never a dull one.

Summer. It’s here.

Stepped out on the back porch this morning:  6:30 a.m. and it’s 74 degrees and an accompanying 93% humidity.

Lord, have mercy.

Summer is here.

Not a shocker, though.  It is mid-May and that’s how we roll.  The thunderstorms should be rolling in any time.  Hopefully not before our youngest has her final elementary school field trip to see the local baseball team play.

Ah well, this is when I am oh so grateful for a job inside with A/C freezing us out.

This is why I am so grateful for Hubby’s job commuting 3 days a week instead of slinging concrete and laying curbing all day.

This is why I am grateful to have started swimming in lieu of running…..although it will be cancelled due to thunderstorms today.

The seasons of life, right?

Well.  Welcome summer.  Time to bust out sprinklers, popsicles, sunscreen and beach paraphernalia.  It’s going to be a hot one!

Slow down, May!!

I had to look at the date several times today, not because I couldn’t remember what day it was, but because I REALLY can’t believe we are almost halfway through May!!!  For the love, we just had Christmas!!!

Crazy, huh?

And so we are already planning summer stuff, some small trips, camps for the kids, getting the boys online class out of the way, and all that.  Good stuff, just.  Wow.  Summer.

Super grateful to have Friday off with the Hubs.  Kids still in school.  Sure hope the sun shines good, I could really use a nice beach day, but if not…..there’s plenty of fun stuff to do!  DATE DAY!!

Weekends and bon-bons

Hoping all the Mamas had a fabulous Mother’s day!!!

My weekend was a curiosity of lots of downtime and productivity.  I was without a car most of the day on Saturday at home so I was able to get lots of stuff done around the house (after I grocery shopped nice and early) and had a ridiculous amount of time to read and chill and THEN go to our supper club in the evening.  Nice.  But weird.  It’s hard to slow down, isn’t it???  I mean we are used to going all out, all the time and then when its not…..it’s hard to switch gears.

Mother’s Day was lovely.  Mass.  Sweet kids.  Helpful kids.  Free breakfast at church after Mass. Dinner was made for me by my guys AND cleaned up.   When I think about what a tough day it is for a lot of women, I know that I’ve got it good with no legitimate complaints.

On the flip side of the coin, I bought NO Mother’s Day cards this year.  My favorite Hallmark store closed and well….it’s just not the same.  So, my sister was in charge of flowers for Mom this year (she did a GREAT job!) and I hand delivered flowers to my Mother-in-law (since my Hubby had to work) and my grandmother and called my dad’s wife and my other grandmother…..which I am sure they appreciated more that a card, right?

Today, it’s back to reality…..Monday morning blues…..and looking forward to a 4 day work week because I TOOK FRIDAY OFF FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!!  AND SO DID MY HUBS.  AND THE KIDS ARE STILL IN SCHOOL!!!!!

Enough yelling.  Have a great day!!
