Our youngest turned 11 last week, however, her birthday had the misfortune to fall during a tremendously hectic weekend and so we dragged out a few celebrations in order to celebrate a joyous day, as every birthday should, and to also celebrate with the family in entirety.
On her actual birthday, we celebrated in the morning with a giant cinnamon bun from Publix for breakfast and opening of cards and gifts.
The next day at Mass we celebrated with a hoot and holler (thanks, Dad!) after Mass during visitor/birthday and anniversary announcements and hot dogs and pool time for Father’s Day at Popop’s
Monday, we celebrated with the annual birthday dinner of choice (Chinese takee outee) and family birthday cake (made by joint effort of big brother and sis–Red Velvet delicious!)
what’s not to love about this? #framer
This weekend we finished up with a Mystery birthday Party (gotta love Dramatic Fanatic) and friends….with the men of the house vacating for the afternoon.
Detective/Suspect Interviews…Who done it??
The final table…thank YOU Pinterest..camp fire flames and s’mores chex mix for the win!
‘Twas a good day that the girls both had a Girl Scout event at the local water park after Mass for a relatively peaceful afternoon .
T’was a wonderful weekend, always is when you have an extra day, great weather and special date time with your bestie!
Saturday was a lot of running kids around to various escapades, but I also ended up with a few hours to kill and went thrifting and had a super successful go at it.
Had my birthday dinner of pizza and salad from our fave pizza placed followed by cheesecake for dessert.
Mass and beach with most of the fam on Sunday. Followed by burgers and dogs on the grill and more cheesecake (the big girl had a culinary project and DARN IT, we had an extra 1/2 of cheesecake to eat. The sacrifices we make for our kids, right?
Sweetness from the kids and time with Hubs….the year is off to a blessed and happy start!
Woman, you lost it. You’ve got enough candles on that cake to burn down the whole flippin’ house and you celebrate? Yup. 44 and totally going to enjoy it. Life’s too short, people. So, imma gonna seize the WHOLE day. And join in Jen for some Quick Takes. Because I can. So, enjoy….my
Lemmee take a selfie….straight out of bed, fresh cut yesterday…love new ‘do…or same ‘do, fresh cut.
I took the day off today (and so did Hubs) and our sweet little sicky who I blogged about yesterday, had a miraculous healing!! Woot, woot!!! Happy birthday to ME!!! Off to school, my little cherub. I know, totally crazy and selfish move, right? Well, that’s how I roll around here as evidenced by the FIRST BIRTHDAY I have ever even taken the day off for (that I remember anyway….things are a little foggy sometimes….send gingko wouldya?). Anyhooooo, as I enjoyed my morning coffee of
I spied this little loveliness on the back porch.
New plants! And new pots!! Be still my heart. Sweet Hubs. Totally rocked it!!
A card and chocolate, too??? What the??? He is totally racking up Hubby points, here.
Of course I still have Facebook to keep up with today (such fun all those birthday wishes, worth holding off purging the list for a while), several early texts and phone calls (since I’m off I can actually talk on the phone today….unless I’m in the pool or riding my bike on the beach…) and then this awesome pile of snail mail to savor later!!
Love cards. And presents. It’s my love language.
Yesterday at work my awesome work peeps had a chip and dip celebration followed by jello cake topped with cool whip. Homemade crab dip and Hand chopped with love and claw inducing mango salsa by my bestie work bud!) Delicious, it was breakfast and lunch….
But, lest you think it’s all awesome food, no responsibilities, flowers and chocolate….I’m still a Mama and regular life still goes on. And it’s all good!!
In honor of MY birthday, I am showing an act of mercy and doing the boy’s laundry. Told you I am a selfish B….just keepin’ it real!
May 1st and thus begins my annual self-imposed blogging challenge of :
Join in if you will, include your blog and post in the combox!
As for me…..it’s my birthday month! Woop woop! Double digits, baby. Double digits.
Apparently, my first birthday present is on its way (I have some very Type A friends…whom I love DEARLY).
Aaaaaaaaand our girls are headed for a Girl Scout Camping weekend this weekend, so with only 2 teenage boys in the house it’s like we’re practically empty-nesters. I see DATE NIGHT SQUARED in our future. Not a bad way to start off the month, eh?
I don’t want to set the bar too high for May blogging here on my first day in; it’s a marathon, not a sprint! Besides, I can’t use all my material for my Friday when I join in with Jen and her crew, in the meantime…..y’all be sure to check out her new BOOK!!! (It’s on my Kindle and as soon as I finish with the Antelope in the Living Room—-hilarious, BTW….I’m in #SOTG).
Killer Cake by Toojay’s. WOW!! There’s one located near someone’s office…someone I love dearly. What do you know? Have you every had this cake? Ugh. Not on ANY healthy diet. Ever.
It’s almost here: MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!! The month where I torture myself to blog daily (weekends optional) and invite YOU to join me.
Generally there is no theme…just blog it up. Photo essay. Words. Many. Few. Whatever you’re feeling, bring it on. Sometimes it’s a little something profound-ish, sometimes it’s an essay, a story, a recap, maybe a link up. Whatever. No rules. Just write. (see what I did there? hee hee crack me up)
Why I always pick May is mainly my dear friend Lea’s fault…she started this long ago…next to December it’s the busiest month of the year what with school end projects and such and yet…..I do love a challenge, even a personal challenge, just to see if I can do it. Sometimes it just gives me something else to distract myself from the EVERYthing that is going in on May…birthdays, Mother’s Day, end of school. It also reminds me that the likelihood of my ever making a living from writing is slim to none (since you actually have to write well and often)…so this is all for fun and encouragement!
