Happy Anniversary!!

WordPress alerted me with a trophy announcing my 3 year blogiversary. 17 days ago. Clearly I am waaaaaaaaay off the radar here.

But good news! We are finally getting to the point that I can replace my beloved laptop, to which I believe will return me to the blog world. Let’s collectively hold our breath, shall we?

It’s quite challenging to blog on the PC. My Hubby is sweet and offered up his laptop, but…..he uses it daily for work and I shudder at the thought of something happening to it on my watch. Too much pressure. And the phone. Puhleeeeze. I can barely read the blogs on my phone, never mind pen one.

So. Hang tight. Lots to report and such. Stay tuned! 🙂

Blessings!!

Completely and totally M.I.A.

When your son feeds your Macbook a chocolate protein smoothie it turns out it’s not so good for the laptop.  or the chair.  or the carpet.  but the wall cleans up nicely.   I’ve not yet purchased another laptop, although Hubby has offered up his for the evenings and/or weekends.  Until now, I’ve not taken him up on it mainly because my blogging urge doesn’t always hit during those times and the desktop has been working fine for my computer needs.  ish.  I can pay bills. Print documents.  Upload pics.  Blog occasionally.  But…..it’s just.  meh.  Not so great for blogging.  I can’t get cozy on that damn exercise ball or desk chair like I can in my big comfy chair.  My phone suffices for my Facebook stalking and Insta fixes, but I’ve never, EVER, EVER really EVER loved typing/texting on the phone.  Don’t get me wrong.  I do.  But.  So. Tiny.  Therefore, I get lazy and keep it to the bare minimum necessary.

Short story long, I think I might actually be ready for a laptop again.  Of my own.  The budget doesn’t support another Macbook.  So I’m tossing around the idea of a tablet versus a laptop.  Mainly for pics, blogs and surfing.  Down the road, maybe some “Word” business, but pretty basic.  Then maybe I’ll get back to blogging.  A little bit.

So, bloggers….and anyone else interested….what do you use??

Now….I think Imma gonna pre-blog.  Or catch up on twitter.  Or Bloglovin’.   So many choices!!!

MAYhem challenge: blogging every day in May

Killer Cake by Toojay's. WOW!! There's one located near someone's office...someone I love dearly. What do you know?

Killer Cake by Toojay’s. WOW!! There’s one located near someone’s office…someone I love dearly. What do you know?  Have you every had this cake?  Ugh.  Not on ANY healthy diet.  Ever.

It’s almost here:  MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!   The month where I torture myself to blog daily (weekends optional) and invite YOU to join me.

Generally there is no theme…just blog it up.  Photo essay.  Words.  Many.  Few.  Whatever you’re feeling, bring it on.  Sometimes it’s a little something profound-ish, sometimes it’s an essay, a story, a recap, maybe a link up.  Whatever.  No rules.  Just write.  (see what I did there?  hee hee crack me up)

Why I always pick May is mainly my dear friend Lea’s fault…she started this long ago…next to December it’s the busiest month of the year what with school end projects and such and yet…..I do love a challenge, even a personal challenge, just to see if I can do it.  Sometimes it just gives me something else to distract myself from the EVERYthing that is going in on May…birthdays, Mother’s Day, end of school.  It also reminds me that the likelihood of my ever making a living from writing is slim to none (since you actually have to write well and often)…so this is all for fun and encouragement!

Think on it!  Join in.  Crazy loves company!!

Blessings!!

Monday Meme…

BethAnne made me do it…..she’s coming down off a 7 day blogging high and threw this one my way.  So here’s how this one goes:

Rules
1.) The first rule is to post these rules.
2.) Post a photo of yourself then write 11 things about you/your life.
3.) Answer the questions for you set in the original post.
4.) Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.
5.) Go to their blog/twitter to tell them you have tagged them.

IMG_4977that’s me on the left….

and 11 things about me are as follows:

  1. I am a forty-something Mom to 4 lively redheads married to my high school sweetheart.
  2. For the last 9 years we’ve lived in my hometown after living away for 12 years.    It’s true, you never really can go home again, you start all over.
  3. We have a cat.  I am more of a dog person.  I don’t really like cats.  He picked us and I guess that’s the way it goes with cats.  He’s a total PIA, fluffy to the Nth degree and I love him.  Call me sucker.
  4. I’m in a constant weight struggle/body image.  Currently working on the healthier aspect pretty hard.  It’s coming along, but I far prefer instant gratification.
  5. I finished my Bachelor’s degree 2 years ago and STILL don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.  Fortunately, I enjoy my job (just not the politics that go along with it).
  6. I have a sister who lives in our former city with her husband and my two nephews.  We fought like regular siblings growing up and are now the best of friends.  She rocks!!  So does her family!!
  7. I am a friend KEEPER.  One of my biggest struggles in this town is that the friends I grew up with are on a totally different planet from me and making new friends has been a huge challenge to go beyond surface level.  It makes me truly miss and appreciate my friends in our old city.  And then I beg them to come visit.  It’s called throwing on the Catholic guilt trip.  Guilty.
  8. I love the beach.  Salt air, sea breeze and sand in my toes cure any and everything.
  9. One day I will go on a pilgrimage to Medjugorge.  Somehow.  Someway.  It will happen though.
  10. I am a judger.  I try not to be, but I am.  Everytime I do, God shows me the ginormous plank in my own eye and I have a huge slice of humble pie.  It’s getting old.  Sigh.  Daily struggles.

the questions for me to answer are as follows:

  • What is your favorite way to shop (online, in-store, yard sales, etc.)?  Online.  Or thrift stores.
  • What was your favorite vacation?  Hubby and I took a trip to Arizona for my friend’s wedding (see pic, gal on the right) and we hiked, went sightseeing and visited other friends for A WEEK!!!  I have the best mom EVER!!!!
  • If you could go anywhere where would it be and why?  Medjugorge.  I just finished a book on the apparitions there and feel a strong pull to experience it for myself.
  • If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?  Princess Diana.  I have always found her fascinating, lovely, wounded and a genuine heart for the downtrodden despite her station in life.
  • What is your favorite app?  IHeartRadio.  We get crapola for reception at work and it helps the day go by, plus we love to torture each other with trying to win the annual Vegas trip to the IHeartRadio concert.  You can’t get through, people.  It’s completely rigged.  (it’s what I tell myself)
  • Do you prefer ebooks or real books?  Real books, but if I’m impatient to read a book, e-book is the BOMBOLA!
  • What is your preferred web browser?  Right now Google Chrome, but I find them all annoying.
  • What is your favorite Disney movie?  Brave
  • What is your favorite Theme Park?  Disney World
  • Do you send Thank you notes?  Yes, of course!!!  They might not be timely, but they do get sent!
  • What was the most unusual thing you’ve ever seen at a wedding? (or event if you haven’t been to many weddings)  A mirror in the women’s restroom that made EVERYONE look tall and thin…we really wanted to take it home!!  Aside from that…everyone gets cray cray at weddings after a certain hour, right?

My 11 questions for the next peeps to accept this challenge:

  1. Single or married?
  2. Kids, furbabies, how many and ages?
  3. What kind of car do you drive and what was your first car?
  4. Best live concert you went to?
  5. Favorite TV show growing up?
  6. Best road trip?
  7. Favorite way to unwind?
  8. If you could pick a reality show to be on, which would it be?
  9. Jillian or Bob?
  10. Coffee, tea or Mountain Dew?

I’m tagging, Grace, Micaela, Jen, Mary Kate and Angela!

Friday..flipping it to the weekend

Here we go, people.  Friday.  Sliding into the weekend.  After this week from H.E.double toothpicks at work, I’m THRILLED to see it here.  Now if I make it through the day without the big cheese showing up with a briefcase and calling me into the office, I’ll be good to go.

In case you missed it, yesterday was my birthday.  27 again.  See yesterday’s post for the deets. Pics at the bottom!

With all the work stress, I’ve been REALLY, REAAAAAAAALLLLLLLY trying to decide what ELSE I want to do/be when I grow up.  Hubby has some good ideas, so this weekend I’ll have to actually sit down and get the ball rolling.

— 3 —

I did spend time in Adoration yesterday, which is ALWAYS good for some peace.  Trust.  Strength.  Courage.  And I’ll trust that God will provide the window/door/key at the appropriate time.

I did come up with some ideas on blog changes as well, something I’ve been mulling over for a while.  It’s a little lower on the priority list but I think they are some good and useful ideas, especially for busy people who want to live and eat healthier.  Got your attention, right??

— 5 —

I’m going to start sewing!!!!  I’m currently looking for a good machine…not terribly complicated but able to do wild and crazy things.  Maybe THAT’S my next calling!!!!  Or just a stress relief.  Either way…ideas????  Send ’em on….

May is winding down.  We still have a spring band concert, awards, 5th grade graduation and end of the year parties to go, but we are taking it one-day-at-a-time and checking the white board calendar as we go.  Love summer, but getting through May is a necessary evil, no?
