THE reason for the season

THE reason for the season, and even though we are WAITING on the birth of baby Jesus, we still keep him in the crèche all month-long.

For more fun Open Houses….go check out Katie @ NFPandMe, she’s linking up until Christmas, so you can check out all the new linkups throughout the month!  How fun!!

Sunday fashion and a migraine..

Ladies and gents…it’s Sunday and that means it’s time for the Great….“What I wore Sunday” link up over at Fine Linen and Purple.    So get on over and check ’em out and comment on all the lovely peeps and their Sunday best!

As for me, this will be quick.  On the way to church a headache started and quickly migrated into a migraine…urgh…no warning either.  Fortunately, I was able to get some Excedrin in and lie down when we got home and clearly I’m blogging so it’s waning, but still not quite up to par.  Boo hoo for me.  Enough of sob story, bring on the photos…

Forcing the smile with my mini-me’s….we are all in a version of black and white…Kohl’s dress….a few years old, boots–now a staple–tights–IDK, forever ago and you can’t see it, so I’ll save it for another day but my go-to long black sweater—Kohl’s several years old!

My “Thirty-One” metro bag…monogrammed, but of course!

Super fun ring (Kohl’s??), yes, I know, it’s a problem…bandaid courtesy via kitty…I should stop pulling his tail.

Lia Sophia slide necklace with daisy slide and daisy-ish earrings….

Thanksgiving Fashion

Since “What I Wore Sunday “at Fine Linen and Purple is so fun, Grace decided to host a “What I wore Thanksgiving” and of course, I am dropping in.  Now I won’t hold it against Grace that she had a totally PRE-planned outfit all put together for her cutie preggo self and since I love seeing what everyone else is in AND how they take their photos, especially whilst wrasslin’ younguns in the process….I’m joining in….although Thanksgiving is a long day……(be sure to check them out in your tryptophan induced haze…I certainly am!)

Morning attire. Need. Coffee. PJs, robe and slippers. Need to start the turkey….

You know you looked like this, too! Post a.m. “pre-turkey feast” walk in my cozy pants and thermal and then topped off with my favorite apron by Brite…ready to wrangle the vittles!!

Amazingly suckered the oldest into becoming my photographer for this one!! Long skirt and shirt from Kohl’s and belt to tie in the shirt a bit. Tank from Wally world.

Super comfy slide wedge shoes from Kohl’s with painted tootsies!

Love this necklace and the dear friend who gave it to me!

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all, hope it was festive and delicious and awesome!!

Pinterest: Finally a success

This picture inspired me, I mean….caramel apples=yum!  They’re just kinda messy and awkward, this looked “doable”.

This Pinterest photo removed the alcohol from the original, so I chose this one.

I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest.  Apparently you need some kind of serious “attention-to-detail” gene and I might be missing that.  Whatevs.  Either way, I am completely inspired by Pinterest and in the next few weekend Hubby and I are going to tackle an outdoor project off Pinterest…(post to come, I’m sure), but as far as fancy food work…meh….I’m at 50/50 right now.  Prior to the apples we had the following disaster…..

Prior Pinterest debacle….

What it was “supposed” to look like…

The weather was fab last night, Hubby got the fire pit going, we had dogs on the grill, marshmallows over the fire, I figured we’d give this caramel apple deal a whirl.  Overall not bad….sadly, Pinterest only shows the pretty.  I’m here to show you the REALZIE.  Enjoy & have a great day!!

I don’t have a corer (and don’t send me one…I have an apple slicer and that’s great…for this a paring knife was fine to removed the core and then I scooped a little of the apple out of the middle to make a reservoir for the caramel sauce.

Bubble, bubble boil and trouble…THIS recipe was O. My. Goodness. Reason to wear stretchy pants #3001…

Cutie pie sous chef

That’s right. Guts of the apple. Pinterest doesn’t show you this!!

Fill ’em up. I used a muffin pan to keep them level and catch some of my spillage

Set them in the fridge for a bit and then slice with a sharp, wet knife. Voila!
