It is done. PTL!!!

iWeb you may disintegrate, self combust, implode…whatever.  I have my blog.  I moved it.  No thanks to you apple people!  I only waited until the bitter end because I was just SURE someone was going to figure out a simple way to move my blog off of iWeb before it “goes away” forever on June 30.  Sadly, that just never manifested.  Or my search engines completely bite.  which is a possibility.  However, I managed to get my 222 blog posts over a 3 year period moved over to a 2nd WordPress site so that I can sort them out and re-blog (bonus for me! and you!)  at will.

As I was madly cutting, pasting, dragging and dropping this past week I did get sidetracked a few times re-reading old blogs.  Something I just don’t do.  I don’t love the same song over and over, the same TV show, the same movie more than once (OK….VERY few exceptions* on that one).  It was interesting.  and funny.  and sad.  and bittersweet.  and insightful.

Do you re-read any of YOUR old blogs?  Journals?  I’m curious.  Have I just been missing out in NOT re-reading my old musings?  Hmmmmm…..

Well.  I have a few other things I’m mulling over in my brain before I put it to the blog, but be assured….I have so much to share with you….maybe not all 222 posts but plenty of them!

Now I’m off to put some cortisone on this garden issue on my forearm…..it better NOT be poison ivy, that’s all I’m going to say!!!  And then I’m off to bed!

**Movies I will watch more than once, in no particular order:

Under the Tuscan Sun

Steel Magnolias

Fried Green Tomatoes

Star Wars (purely as a matter of chance….2 boys who’ve watched them a zillion times and 2 girls who are being newly indoctricated…starting with #4.  of course)

Pretty Woman

Father of the Bride…1 &2

Cheaper by the Dozen 1&2

there might be a couple more, but that’s just off the top of my head…what about YOU?

Enough already!!!

Oh my goodness!  It’s been a solid flippin’ day of this!!  I know I shouldn’t whine, but….  WAH, WAH, WAH!!!!

Fortunately, Saturday we got all of our chores and running around done because we knew it was going to be this way today.  Mass this morning was fine and then about noon, the skies opened up and really haven’t stopped.  This my friends, is a tropical storm.  This my friends, is me sticking my tongue out….:P   yes, I look just like that!

I thought I’d be so excited to sleep, it’s such a constant sound.  And yet, 12:23 a.m.  sleep eludes me.  I have work tomorrow, TS Debby!  Do you not care?!?!?  No.  She doesn’t.

Sadly, I am like this every time we get a bad storm blowing through.  I’m certain it’s due to the trauma of 2004 when we moved back home and were socked with 4 hurricanes within the 1st month.  It’s a testament to God, Himself that I didn’t completely fall apart during that time.  Truly.  My stomach hurts just thinking back.  So on that note, I think I’ll try to head back to bed and grab those last few hours of sleep!

on a bright note, I only have about 18 mos of blog posts left to move over to WP!  so there’s that…

I hate moving…..

Apple you confound me.  It’s a love/hate thing.  Really.  So easy to work with, such pleasant employees, intoxicating stores; I sing your praises often. (although, I have lots to learn and my Hubby does not share my love of Apple products necessarily, especially when he asks me how to do something on my laptop and I say “yeah, I don’t know….google it.”), anyway….really I love Apple.  However, right now they are my “S List”.  That’s right.  The Sucko List.

They are discontinuing their iWeb service (and a few other things that I don’t really use….) and that caused me to have to uproot my prior blog to new and less precarious pastures.  The problem is….unlike many of their other services, they didn’t really have a super clear and/or EASY way to move the iWeb blogs to other services.  I could use a big red Staples button here.  Really.  Not kidding.

easy it ain’t!!

Last summer I started looking around for other blog homes and decided on an unnamed site that could move my blog easy sneezy, had pretty good directions (even for me), however, I ended up calling IT support and between the two of us they could NOT move my blog.  Something in the version of my laptop or the iWeb I have is hindering progress, so I came up with a big fat ZERO!!  Very frustrating.  In the meantime, I decided to cease and desist any further bloggage on the iWeb and I moved to WordPress with my new blog (which, incidentally is working for me so far) and deal with the move later.  Much later.

In my infamous procrastinator-fashion, I have truly waited until the bitter end to move that B.  I currently have 7 6 days to move a little over 2 years and 3 months.  I’ve moved 9 months of blogging in the past 3 days.  It’s a cut and paste nightmare.  Screenshots for pics that aren’t crossing over on the cut and paste.  I’m a little fried.  Wondering if I’ll actually get it done.  The worst part is….my hard drive crashed a few months ago and guess what didn’t get backed up….yep. iWeb.  the bane of my existence right now.  So, I don’t even have the blog on my harddrive to just pick and pull when I feel like it.  Which is probably best.  Because in all reality, under pressure is my best work and I will get it done.  Under pressure, I turn into a focused Type-A person.  Once crisis averted, I’m back to my laid back procrastinating self.  It’s a vicious cycle.

Either way.  You might not see much blogging on my end for a few days.  I guess it’s good we are getting a lot of rain today, I know what I’ll be doing.  And at least for the next 7 days in between.  After that…I must say…I fully plan on recycling some of my old posts.  There was some good stuff in there.  I’ll keep my second WP site private, it’s very personal and emotional (in fact, I am working diligently on NOT getting sidetracked re-reading old posts….it’s HARD!!), but I will recycle and update them to share with you as I pour over them.  My heart will be on my sleeve, but WOW was God working over-time in my life those 3 years–He still is now, but when you look back you can see His presence so vividly.  It.  Is.  AWE-some!

Well, time for coffee #2 and a little breakfast before Mass!  C ya!

Blessings!

Celebrating life

Last night I went out to meet old friends for a few hours.  A very old friend, Stef,  (since middle school!) was setting up a celebration for another friend, Shannon, who was coming into town.  However, the celebration was celebrating LIFE!  This friend coming into town was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer 8 months ago.  She just finished her chemo and 2 weeks ago her energy returned.  She’s sporting a fancy wig and some apprehension of her upcoming tests to assess the efficacy of her chemo, but for these two weeks she is celebrating with friends and family.  Stef had set up a beautiful slide show for Shannon of old and new pics, including treatment pics and a few from a 5K Shannon did right at the end of her treatment for her birthday.  To say the tears were flowing, is an understatement.  Life is short.  Unfortunately, the older we get the more we realize how precious each day is.

My face hurt from laughing and smiling so much (these people are Facebook posting picture crazAY!!) and catching up with friends I haven’t seen in months and some in years.

Camera hams. Every last one of them!

Another friend that was there is on the backside of her breast cancer treatment is in reconstruction stage.  My mom used to work for her dad (an orthopedic surgeon…now 87 and working and patenting new forms of electricity and power for the love!!  how cool is that!??!?), she is the sweetest thing.  She found her cancer because a friend of hers was diagnosed, so she went for a baseline mammogram @ age 38, no symptoms.  They found cancer.  3 young children and a husband.  She’s doing wonderful, because they caught her cancer early.  Moral of the story:  LADIES.  GET.  YOUR.  ANNUAL.  MAMMOGRAM.

It was a fun night overall.  I left to pick up our son from roller skating so I missed destination #2 (and that’s a good thing!).  However, the hilarious finale was when someone discovered the restaurant had a GIANT camera in the billiards area and you could post straight to Facebook from this wall camera….OH.  LOOK.  OUT!!!  **all of these pics are from that camera.  Enjoy.

Happy Weekend!

Date night and U2

Hubby and I celebrated our 18th anniversary a couple of weeks ago, however, it was smack DAB at the end of the school year with a flurry of kiddo stuff, so we finally went to a nice dinner to celebrate last night.  Hey, better late than never, right?

Impressive building, eh? Not only houses the culinary school but the Photography school and Museum.

We went to the local state college because we had heard great things about their Cafe 101:  the culinary school that offers lunch (reservations only @ $10) and dinner on Wednesdays (reservations only @ $15).  The meal was fabulous.  I’m still full.  Four courses.  A limited menu, however, Hubby and I ordered opposite choices and pretty much sampled the menu.  I’ve never had such amazing conch fritters.  There goes my mouth, watering again!

Lovely, intimate atmosphere. Seats 75. I think there were 15 people tops the whole time we were there.

It was nice to get out.  We don’t realize how busy we are during the week, working and tending to children and family life.  Weekends are filled with chores and family outings (next weekend we have friends visiting–WOOT WOOT!!!) , so getting away just the two of us is rare.  Uninterrupted conversation, catching up on the week, etc, etc.  The funny thing is (or pathetic, depending on how you look at it), during the day, I jotted down notes on my phone of things I wanted to make sure we discussed during our date.  OY.  These aging, multitasking, distracted brain cells.  Know what?  It worked!

To top the evening off, we did a little price shopping on eyeglasses for our youngest and a new pair for Hubby.  Holy COW they are expensive, so we wanted to see if we could get a better deal than our ophthalmologist’s office–yes, about 1/2 off!!!!!

Came home to kiddos getting along, showered, full of pizza, settling in to watch America’s Funniest Videos and ready for bed.  It was a good night.  And my date was great!!  He smelled real good, too! Falling asleep, we both laughed recalling one of our first dates when he said something to me as U2 was playing SO SOFTLY on the radio that somehow I thought I heard “I love you”.  My response was , ” Love me?  You hardly even know me?!”  After laughing, he explained he loved U2—DUH!  That wasn’t awkward at all.  So we still laugh and we both remember EXACTLY where we were when I said it.  Good times.  Good times!  At least now I can say, “I love you, too”  and “I love U2”, because they are both still true!

Blessings and Happy GO SKATE DAY!!!

My boy, grinding a rail last year..generally he prefers to film!
