The view on our counter this week. Good times, people, good times!
Fell STRAIGHT asleep last night and woke up @ 12:30a.m. to two cats fighting. OUR cat and some other cat (who I’m certain started it….)..anyway, jumped out of bed and took care of it, but then…the dang cat had POO on his butt. I wasn’t messing with that so I left him outside to fend for himself and went back to bed.
Tossing and turning with adrenaline pumping our 13yo son had a dream/something and was talking LOUDLY in his sleep. Jumped up and dealt with that and then back to bed. To toss and turn some mo’…I see lots o’ caffeine in my future today. Lots.
At least I exercised this week. Not yesterday, but all week-long. Gotta balance the Christmas baking…..or at least keep it at bay, you feel me??
Our daughter’s bronchitis appears to be gone. Thank you $100 worth of Zpack and Brom cough meds.
3 Days of staying at home and down about 5 pounds, but our 13 yo son seems to have kicked his flu bug.
On Day 3 of flu, he rallied long enough to make his 5:40p.m. appointment to audition for All-county band. He’s really quite competitive
He made All-County band. French horn, 4th chair. Pretty proud mama and papa, considering we have ZERO musical ability and the kiddo has only been playing a year. Yep. he’s the bomb.

THIS week I have hit my stride. Serious talk. Week 3 of the 5 week challenge and I’ve worked. IT. like. nobody’s. business. or everybody’s since this is a blog on the WORLD wide web and all. Anyhow…..like I was sayin’….THIS week I’ve been an exercising-eating-well-logging-my-food-goody-two-shoes. It’s been CaRAAAAZaY!!! So crazy, that I am entertaining the thought of eating clean, like FO REALZ, eating clean. However, in Friday fashion, and in joining in with Jen’s blogging gang @ Conversion Diary, I thought I’d wrap up the week with 7 things I’ve experienced during this week o’WORKIN’ IT!
Oatmeal. Yum. Delish. Can do lots with it. This week it’s been pumpkin. But…..how long, O’ Lord is my belly going to grumble afterward????? Anyone?? Anyone???
Walking lunges. Super good for your gluteus maximus. Around the corner of the track. 2 sets. 2 days later=ouch.
Packing my lunch at night makes a lot of sense. Speeds up the morning, too. Maybe I’ll actually do that next week. Baby steps, people. Baby steps.
Cutting out ice cream at night hasn’t been as bad as I thought. Apparently, my low point comes when I get in the door after work…..veggie straws are where it’s at. Trust me. You can have a lot of those suckers in a serving…it’s perfect!
Lots of walking=dry, scaly feet. A little love on the weekend with the ped-egg, lotion and some new polish…….happy tootsies!
Regular working out makes for some GOOD sleep. So I’ve heard. However, don’t hate but….our kiddos are bigger and now that we have sleepers-through-the-night, I pretty much fall asleep in about 2 seconds flat, so I haven’t noticed any change there…but “They” all say it’s true…so I’m sure it is.
Maybe I’m the last to know..maybe you are…but here’s a little ditty that is (according the my newest teen) all the rage right now…PSY–Gangnam style. Maybe you could run to this on your next run. or not. whatev. Now you’re cool. You’re welcome. And you’re one of the many who made clicking on the video part of the Guinness world record book for “most watched”….kewl.

Oh my goodness! It’s been a solid flippin’ day of this!! I know I shouldn’t whine, but…. WAH, WAH, WAH!!!!
Fortunately, Saturday we got all of our chores and running around done because we knew it was going to be this way today. Mass this morning was fine and then about noon, the skies opened up and really haven’t stopped. This my friends, is a tropical storm. This my friends, is me sticking my tongue out….:P yes, I look just like that!
I thought I’d be so excited to sleep, it’s such a constant sound. And yet, 12:23 a.m. sleep eludes me. I have work tomorrow, TS Debby! Do you not care?!?!? No. She doesn’t.
Sadly, I am like this every time we get a bad storm blowing through. I’m certain it’s due to the trauma of 2004 when we moved back home and were socked with 4 hurricanes within the 1st month. It’s a testament to God, Himself that I didn’t completely fall apart during that time. Truly. My stomach hurts just thinking back. So on that note, I think I’ll try to head back to bed and grab those last few hours of sleep!
on a bright note, I only have about 18 mos of blog posts left to move over to WP! so there’s that…
8 a.m. OH. MY. GOODNESS!!! I don’t remember the last time we ALL stayed in bed so late. YIKERS!!! Even Hubby (to which our youngest said, “Good job, Dad!!”–since he’s usually up and gone early in the week and then has the routine of the week waking him early on the weekend as well.
Since this is our forecast/radar today….all that GREEN heading our way (supposedly not until later today), it could potentially be a super LAZY day today! I have lots of little inside projects, or a nap, or a new book to read. We shall see what the skies show after Mass…but I’m getting excited about a little rain (and so is our poor crunchy grass!). **So excited I just learned to screen save AND screen save a ‘specific’ area on the screen. It’s the little things….
There are only a couple of days left in Blog-Every-Day-in-May. We are most certainly past the “Love” portion of the month into the “Hate” portion of the month and rejoicing the silly daily blogging is almost done!!! I
t’s a long holiday weekend here in the States as we observe Memorial Day, a day/long weekend, we remember, in gratitude all fallen soldiers serving our country in all wars to protect our freedoms that we certainly take for gratitude on a regular basis.

It’s Friday, folks; that means it’s time to wrap up the week with a pretty little bow and join in with all the regular Conversion Diary folks—-this week @ Hallie Lord’s blog and see what the rest of the world has been up to!
I was able to get good workouts in this week. Although my friend and I didn’t get our acts together until Thursday to work out TOGETHER, I DID manage to get my 3 strength days in and cardio. We also added two sets of THIS Men’s Health ab routine on the exercise ball. All I can say is, it’s been a LONG time since my abs were THIS sore. I had to modify it a little because I couldn’t come all the way up on my hands for the second exercise, so I stayed on my elbows–my girlfriend further modified by going off the ball, onto the floor in plank position–and STILL, OUCH! Good stuff!!
End of the year activities are coming to a head. Our youngest daughter’s school choir performance was Tuesday. It was sweet. And packed. A joint venture with the high school and middle school it was a full 90 minutes! Even though it was a packed auditorium and our seats were not so awesome, it was quite enjoyable.
My mom is in town! Yay!! And my sister comes next weekend!! Hoping to have my mom and my aunt and grandmother over for dinner Sunday night…but I’m Queen of Procrastination so I’ll call them later and set it up….
I DID purchase Mother’s Day cards AND some May birthday presents AHEAD of time, completely contradictory of my procrastination. Now I just need to send them out today and I’ll be good to go with a strong chance of them making their destination (mostly local) by tomorrow!!
I did not get good sleep last night. Highly unusual for me. I woke at sometime after midnight and thought I had a text from our son (who was sleeping)–I wasn’t quite awake yet..and after that I tossed and turned for the remainder of the evening. At one point reasoning with myself that I should just get up and do those Mother’s Day cards, pay bills, sign permission slips and make lunches since I was up anyway….. I opted out and stayed in bed. Probably the better choice!
I came across THIS ARTICLE in the National Catholic Register by Matthew Archbold regarding Nancy Pelosi and her statement that her Catholic faith compels her to support same-sex marriage. Now while I know this is controversial (and I HATE conflict), everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have yet to come across ANY thing Catholic or Christian that supports SSM. She must have a different copy of the Catechism than I do…
Our garden is growing, our garden is growing. OK. Hubby’s garden, he did/does all the work. But….our garden is growing!! Starting small this year to experiment, tomatoes and cucumbers and YAY!!!

Or eventually it will give you no choice. Yesterday, I blogged about my headache. That was earlier in the day. After I picked up our girls from Religious Ed. I came home, and promptly got into bed to REALLY get rid of that meddling headache for once and all. It was about 11:45 a.m. I briefly said hello to Hubby when he came in to check on me after Mass and the next thing I knew….it was 2:45 p.m. So much for the day!!! I had two hours to kill before Mass with the girls @ 5!! (so we made Pioneer Woman’s cinnamon rolls to continue celebrating our Easter Octave!!) However, my headache was GONE. And boy, was I rested!! I thought I’d have a hard time going to sleep last night, but ZERO problem. In fact, I was supposed to get up and meet my girlfriend at the gym and after turning off my alarm, fell BACK to sleep for another 90 minutes. OY! I’m blaming it on the ceiling fans. It’s really making sleep phenomenal. But truly, I obviously needed the sleep and since I didn’t give my body what it needed, it took it anyway. So beware!! What are you neglecting YOUR body of? You might want to tend to those oversights, otherwise the body may just take over and give you no choice.

Ah, the beginning of the sports season….Flag football for one and Softball for another. Same season. Two different fields. Overlapping games and practices. <sigh> The anthem of a million families….run, run, run. A dilemma: we want them to be well-rounded, experience the lessons in sports and a little extra exercise and play never hurt. However, after a full day’s work, it’s switching over to “Round 2” for mom and dad and takes pre-planning in order to avoid all the fast-food traps that go along with it. Some days we do it well, others we have “room for improvement”. At the end of the day, when kids are fed and showered and cleats hung up (or thrown in the garage haphazardly….) there is a decision to make: sleep or blog? As my lack of posting can attest to, I choose sleep.
Several days a week I get up early to work out and therefore, need to sleep early. Balance and time management. I’m still working on it all…..it’s a lifelong process!
