Friday. Yay, but I’m so confused

Joining in @ Conversion Diary (you should go see what everyone’s up to…..) AND Hallie Lord for a fun song link up today (check ’em out!).

1.  It’s Friday.  We had a day off on Wednesday to celebrate the 4th.  Work 2 days.  Off 1.  Work 2 days.  Off 2.  Is the next pattern work 2 days, off 3???  I’m so confused….and happy to have 2 days off to contemplate this.

2.  Our 4th was a ridicuLOUSly full day.  And fun.  Beach all morning until about 2.  And then over to join my step-dad and siblings for pool and slide fun and BBQ.  I’ll just go ahead and say it.  We didn’t make the fireworks.

3.  I highly recommend hitting Canaveral National Seashore if you every get the chance. It’s awesome!!

4.  I made this delish little number for the 4th.  ‘Twas a hit.  My mom used to make it for us.  Now don’t go ragging on my authenticity of the flag…the fresh strawberries were eaten during the week, so I was working with frozen and wasn’t putting 50 strawberries on the cake!!  In one corner!!  Afterward, I realized I should have used the blueberries for the stars and the strawberries for the stripes! DURH!!!  Whatev…no one eating it complained..

5.  Summer is in full swing.  We’ve got summer camp for the girls.  Lawn mowing and skating and Xbox for the boys.  Ice cream in the freezer and our beach bag in regular use.  Life is good!

6.  Gym day 3 today.  Next week will be my last at this boot camp.  The workout is phenomenal (if you like near-vomit and passing out), but the time (7:30p.m.) just doesn’t do it for me.  So, time to revamp my schedule…keep my muscles guessing 🙂

7.  Finally wrapping up the week and Quick Takes with Hubby and I’s “Song” for the lovesong link up @ Hallie Lord’s fashionable blog….Robert Plant….”Sea of Love”…what’s yours???

Happy Weekend Y’all!!

Sleepy Sunday

8 a.m.  OH.  MY.  GOODNESS!!!  I don’t remember the last time we ALL stayed in bed so late.  YIKERS!!!  Even Hubby (to which our youngest said, “Good job, Dad!!”–since he’s usually up and gone early in the week and then has the routine of the week waking him early on the weekend as well.

Since this is our forecast/radar today….all that GREEN heading our way (supposedly not until later today), it could potentially be a super LAZY day today!  I have lots of little inside projects, or a nap, or a new book to read.  We shall see what the skies show after Mass…but I’m getting excited about a little rain (and so is our poor crunchy grass!).  **So excited I just learned to screen save AND screen save a ‘specific’ area on the screen.  It’s the little things….

There are only a couple of days left in Blog-Every-Day-in-May.  We are most certainly past the “Love” portion of the month into the “Hate” portion of the month and rejoicing the silly daily blogging is almost done!!!  I

t’s a long holiday weekend here in the States as we observe Memorial Day, a day/long weekend, we remember, in gratitude all fallen soldiers serving our country in all wars to protect our freedoms that we certainly take for gratitude on a regular basis.

Based on the long weekend, there may be a smattering of posts along the way…but be sure to check them out!  Happy Sunday and blessings to all!!

That’s a wrap!

This dance season is OVER, people!  Welcome summer, the land of the non-scheduled (generally anyway!).  Now to just get this last couple of weeks of school done…

Mimi, Popop and sister….just a few pics (the one with mom and dad was too blurry…oh the steady hand of a 10 year old!)

Why wouldn’t you follow a busy day of dance rehearsal, recital, ice cream celebration with a backyard campout?!

3-Day Weekend? Bring it!!

I enjoyed a lovely day yesterday in spite of working on my birthday.  Hubby and the kids were super sweet and attentive to the Queen (as it should be, right?).  My Facebook, text and voicemail was full of well wishes and serenades from family and friends, quite entertaining!!  My work peeps treated me to a phenomenal fruit bouquet, mini-cupcakes and Jimmy John’s subs and chips for lunch.  It was perfect!  Back at the ranch, amid evening rain my mom and aunt joined us for pizza and salad and birthday cake.  Not to mention a raucous round of “Happy Birthday, cha-cha-cha” by the kids..I should have gotten it on video!!  God is good, I have been blessed with an awesome family and friends.

I must say, it was a treat to be completely taken care of and Hubby did a great job with the cake (although a 1/4 of a sheet was a BIT much for our family, my work people will be pleased this a.m.!) and presents (New PJ’s, my watch fixed and roses–nice touch!!).

Today I will trudge forward and put in my eight hours and then enjoy the day off tomorrow (starting my 3 day weekend) with my mom and sis celebrating my birthday (again) and my little sister’s big   4-0 (a little bit early!).  Should be a fun time; my sister is bringing a couple of girlfriends and my cousin and his daughter came in late last night so we’ll have a whole slew of people making a racket down on the beach!!

Since my mom took the girls with her last night for a sleepover and beach day today (shhhhh, they are playing hooky from school!), the boys and I are having a quiet morning…which means, I should get my booty in gear, this is where I tend to get lazy and then end up rushing and practically running late!!  Have a great day, I’ll be back tomorrow with “7 Quick Takes”!

Enjoy the day and check out the other May bloggers!!

Love me some Saturday mornings!

The one day a week that waking up at any specific time is optional.  Purely optional.  Lie in with Hubby.  Wake up and get the day going.  No plan.  It’s the one day a week I actually enjoy getting up while it’s still dark…..because I don’t HAVE to!

This morning was no different.  Hubby and I chatted while waking with no hurry to get ready for work.  Enjoyed coffee in the dark living room while the sun slowly rose gently lighting the room through the open shades.  70-ish degrees Fahrenheit, breezy, NO humidity.  Pure awesomeness.

Hubby did his deal this morning and I took a great walk while the kids were still sleeping.  Before I pay bills.  Before I go grocery shopping.  Before the day gets rockin’ and rollin’!

You can’t feel the breeze or smell the flowers, but hopefully you enjoy the pictures! (I did my best to name all the plants….always leaving room for error)

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!  Psalm 118:24

And you can head out and see what all the other May bloggers are up to!
